Demond Miles is a May 2018 graduate of the University of Missouri- Kansas City with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences. Demond was born in St. Louis and graduated from Gateway Institution of Technology. As a first-generation college student attending UMKC, Demond was involved into many different organizations on campus. His most active positions included being president of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Liaison for Men of Color, and an active member of the African American Student Union. Demond's passion for working with students started his sophomore year of college when he was accepted to work for the UMKC Propel program, which is a program that allowed him to be a mentor for students with disabilities. Demond furthered his experience by working with the "Bridge to College" program which allowed him to advise high school students considering college and and career options.  He also interned at Hogan Preparatory Academy in the freshman and senior class seminar. Following MCAC, Demond plans to pursue a master's degree in higher education with goals to teach at urban schools back in his community.
